Uncontrolled Flicking between open tabs. This happens regardless of whether I am typing something, reading something, moving my mouse, or not moving my mouse. Firefox flicks back to another open tab, happens randomly, but happens at least every 5 mins or so. Extremely annoying, especially when trying to fill out a form. It even flicks between different open instances of Firefox such as having one 'normal' window open and one 'private' window. I might be working on a 'normal' window when without warning an open 'private' window will open. I am suspecting some kind of malware.

Hey,

If you are suspecting malware it is possible to run a few scans. I have provided the list of recommended scans below:

Also, you can try to see if this happens in safe mode by closing Firefox then click shift when you click the Firefox icon. This will tell you if it is an add on that is causing this issue as well.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
