he have a program beyond trust the elevates updater.exe to run as with admin rights.added permissions to the mozilla install directory so the update takes place works fine. my issue is that the entry in add/remove programs is still lists version 12 and 13. is there a way to get around this issue.

You probably see only orphaned entries in add and remove programs.
This can happen if the Firefox updater didn't remove the entry of the previous version, but merely added an entry for the new version.
If you are comfortable with the registry editor then you can remove the Firefox 12 entry in this registry key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Mozilla Firefox (????)

If you have a 64 bit Windows version then use:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Mozilla Firefox

yea i tried that and that will remove the entry in add/remove. but the problem is this is going out to over 200 machines. the problem is there i cant come up with a good solution on how to do this consistantly cause it will happen on each consecutive upgrade of firefox.
