black bar telling me that I am useing an old verision and should update firefox . I am up to date and this is a constant on the screen
Every time I start Firefox , I get a black bar across the top of the page telling that I am using an old version and should update , it has a learn more button and that takes me to the mozilla home page I am using Firefox 6 and the menu bar say it is up to date . I don't know where this came from and see no way to remove it . I can be closed but will appear the next time the browser is opened

If you still have Fast Browser Search (FBSMTW in the user agent) then you may want to remove that.

Your UserAgent string in Firefox is messed up by another program that you installed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Agent
type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.
Filter = general.useragent.extra.firefox
Right-click that preference and select Reset
Then restart Firefox
