I have 1password version 3.5.9 and I worried about losing passwords if I install firefox 5.01. I have 4.01 now
I keep getting an upgrade notice for 5.01 stating it is important to install it but in the notes it says to close 1password and I'm reluctant to do that with all my passwords.

You should upgrade to 3.6, according to the website, 3.6 is compatible with FF 5:

If you have further question, you should contact the developer.
1Password support says that one needs 1Password 3.6.0 or newer to work with Firefox 5.0

Thanks much!
Firefox support says to 5. Launch Firefox and click Tools > Add-ons > Extensions. Make sure that 1Password is *not* listed. 6. Step #5 is the most important step so I'll repeat it again here :) Launch Firefox and make sure 1Password is not listed in Tools > Add-ons > Extensions 7. If 1Password is appearing in the Extensions window, click the Uninstall button on the 1Password extension and quit Firefox. 8. Return to your 1Password window and check the box next to Firefox.
If I uninstall 1password will I lose all my passwords?
You should contact Agile for further assistance since they are the one who developed this extension. Mozilla/Firefox has nothing to do with that:
