There are automatic updates, but when trying to update, I get this message: "The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer, and then restart Firefox to try again." when I click the OK button, the updates start, but again, I get the same message... I'm afraid that if I uninstall my firefox and reinstall it, all my bookmarks will be gone! Help please! :) thanks! Arnie

This can often happen if you aren't running Firefox as someone who has access to modify Firefox's program files (e.g. an administrator). The only solution for this is to run Firefox as an administrator in order to update.

Also, re-installation does not delete your bookmarks, they are saved separately from Firefox itself.
