Can you click View certificate and paste here the certificate chain in a text version? Thanks.

I have the same problem and instances are increasing. I would love to send you a certificate copy but Firefox will not allow the certificate to be copied. This particular one (latest) is for Amazon Australia and is definitely valid (23 Jul 2020 to 23 Jul 2031). The connection problem occurs multiple times daily and is becoming very frustrating. Only Firefox is affected, I have no problem with either Edge or Chrome. This is definitely a bug and has been getting worse over the last few months.

One possible reason is an intermediary (AKA a "man in the middle"). Please start by configuring "No proxy" and see whether that helps. It's on the Settings page:

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Settings (previously "Options")
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

In the search box at the top of the page, type proxy and Firefox should filter to the "Settings" button, which you can click.

The default of "Use system proxy settings" piggybacks on your Windows/IE "LAN" setting. "Auto-detect" can lead to a flaky connection. Switch to "No proxy".

Any difference?

Thanks @jscher2000, The proxy settings were the issue though I was sure I had that set previously. I think a recent update has managed to overwrite some (but not all) settings. My downloads folder had also been changed to windows default which I never use as the OS is on a relatively small SSD.
