To whom it may concern:

In my Thunderbird (TB) installation I have set up multiple email profiles from different email provider. I got a mail from my primarly email provider signalling me they would slow down my outgoing mails using Thunderbird. The helpdesk suggested that there could be something weird in TB. I explained I have set my accounts correctly and could not explain it to me either. After some digging in TB I found that the first configured SMTP-server in TB is set as default.

How is it possible to undefault the first SMTP server without having any other default server or to force TB using the SMTP server according to the profile?

Kind regards,

Wendelin

Open Tools/Account Settings, select an account in the left pane, then look at Outgoing Server (SMTP) in the lower right pane. You probably have it set to the Default for each account, but it would be better to select the smtp server associated with the account, e.g. the gmail account sends on the gmail smtp, the outlook.com account sends on the outlook.com smtp etc.
