Importing emails and folders structure from WLM to TB

I have been using Outlook Express and then Windows Live Mail for 15 years for business. I have 40GB and 100,000 messages in my WLM store. (I use Thunderbird for personal email). I want to copy the folder structure and email messages from the WLM storage folders to TB.

I saw one recommendation to upload to IMAP then download into TB. But was told that IMAP is limited to 10GB so that does not help. That would also mean 100,000 messages in my inbox!

I see ways to import one eml at a time, but that is not practical for 100,000 messages.

I see the Import/Export Tools and the ability to import all messages from a folder and subfolders to a TB folder, but that would mean 100,000 email messages in one folder, one 40GB mbox file.

Ideally, I would like to import the structure used in WLM with the messages in the folders, into TB.

Suggestions?

Your choice of WLM leaves no "import" path. But I can assure you the import export tools will not import 40Gb of data in one bite.

You might want to look at using the export option in WLM to export your folders (I have no idea if they export EML files. But I would assume they do.) That way you might get to manage the per folder part.

Sigh. That is a good solution, if I can export messages from WLM, one folder at a time, I can then import them to TB one-folder-at-a-time. Labor intensive but probably a good path to follow.
