Almost every time I am on Facebook and click on Farmville to play that game, the first time I click on to go to my farm, I've been getting the "official-looking" red firefox screen and logo pop up with a gray colored pop up box that says it's an urgent firefox update. I've never clicked on the save button, I alwasy click cancel, close the pop up box, go back to Facebook and click on Farmville again, and everything runs fine, The latest one I encountered says it was a Java script coming from the following link, again it popped up after I logged into Facebook, and clicked on Farmville. Here's the link and file info: Urgent firefox update firefox-patch.js JavaScript File (2.6 KB) from https://podaimt2.net https://podaimt2.net/4761283090238/bea2ae3697608b4f8ce3a682c30d7e46.html

. Whenever you get a message / popup that software / files need to be updated;

DO NOT USE ANY OF THE PROVIDED LINKS

While this may be a legitimate message, it could also be Malware or a Virus. Any time you want or need to check for upgrades, go to the website of the True Owner of the program in question. For example, to check out Firefox, go to https://www.mozilla.org {web link}

You can report such a site at; Google Report Phishing Page {web link} which is the same when done while on site by going to Help > Report Web Forgery

Help us safeguard Mozilla’s trademarks by reporting misuse {web link}

That's been going on since around June 11th, affecting Firefox and Chrome users. Distributed by advertising networks and proving hard to stop because a few new domains crop up everyday.

uBlock Origin and maybe other ad blockers are effective at blocking that crap from appearing in Firefox. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

I never saw that stuff until mid-July when I went looking for it with a default Firefox installation - namely without uBlock Origin. The I was able to catch a few of those fake pages and "play with them"; then I was able to ascertain that uBlock Origin was able to block that crap.
