"Your Connection is Not Secure" Error Produced by Google search
In Firefox, requesting google.com yields the "Invalid URL" and doing a Google search from the search bar yields "Your connection is not secure" error. There are no issues when I use Chrome. Here are screenshots of both errors. https://s31.postimg.org/rcebe4duz/Screen_Shot_2016_07_02_at_8_22_11_PM.png https://s31.postimg.org/p93w6ge23/Screen_Shot_2016_07_02_at_8_23_25_PM.png
First thing I tried: I uninstalled Avast, which is the only antivirus software installed on my machine. Then, I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox.
Then, as instructed on the support site below, deleted cert8.db after exiting Firefox and then reopened, as described here. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/what-does-your-connection-is-not-secure-mean. Neither of these things worked.
I'd be very grateful for any advice. Thank you in advance.
OS X 10.10.5. Firefox 47.0.1

If you can't inspect the certificate via "Add Exception" then try this:
Open the "Add Security Exception" window by pasting this chrome URL in the Firefox location/address bar and check the certificate:
- chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul
In the location field of this window type or paste the URL of the website with the https:// protocol prefix (https://xxx.xxx).
- retrieve the certificate via the "Get certificate" button
- click the "View..." button to inspect the certificate in the Certificate Viewer
You can inspect details like the issuer and the certificate chain in the Details tab of the Certificate Viewer. Check who is the issuer of the certificate. If necessary then please attach a screenshot that shows the Certificate Viewer with the issuer.
There is security software like Avast and Kaspersky and BitDefender and ESET that intercepts secure connections and sends their own certificate or that incorporates special web shielding features that can block content.
Corel,
Thank you for the quick response. I uninstalled Avast earlier and have no other antivirus software on my machine.
Since the upload images function still hangs, here is a screenshot of the certificate for https://www.google.com
