Firefox crashing with websites Facebook and Publisher's Clearing House
On Saturday July 4th, I downloaded Mozilla Firefox 39 and finally got it working after finding out that Norton firewall was keeping me from accessing the internet. Now a new problem has arisen. The websites Facebook and Publisher's Clearing House is causing Firefox to crash. Even this page that I'm typing on caused Firefox to crash. I'm using my phone to type in what is happening. Any suggestions folks?

And Adobe Flash is STILL crashing with that change you indicated.
I know crashes are very frustrating. Are you getting the Mozilla Crash Reporter dialog, or the Windows crash dialog? If you are getting the Mozilla Crash Reporter form, your Firefox may have logged some data that would help track down the cause of the problem. You can submit that data to Mozilla and share it with forum volunteers to see whether it points to the solution. Please check the last section of the support article "Firefox Crashes" for steps to get those crash report IDs from the about:crashes page, and then post some of the most recent ones here.

Trust me, it's not fun.
The fourth and sixth reports indicates flashplayerplugin_18_0_0_203.exe which should not run if you disabled the Flash Player protected mode. Could you double-check and, if necessary, use the "old method":
Firefox internal setting:
(A) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(B) In the search box above the list, type or paste flash and pause while the list is filtered
(C) Double-click the dom.ipc.plugins.flash.disable-protected-mode preference to switch its value from false to true.
This might not take effect until all Flash has been unloaded for a few minutes, or you close Firefox.
Before that preference was added, the way to disable protected mode was by creating or editing a settings file. The following pages/posts provide different approaches for that if it turns out to be necessary (if Flash EXE processes continue to show up in the Windows Task Manager, Processes tab, even after changing the Firefox preference):

Flash needs to completely unload from memory (exiting and starting Firefox up again might help) before this takes effect.

I returned Flash back to true ONLY because this morning after I switched Facebook froze Firefox in BOTH normal and Safe Mode.
Ok folks. I just read that earlier today Mozilla Firefox has blocked Adobe's Flash because of ALL KINDS of bullshit associated with Flash including bugs and what not. I will tell you folks this much, Adobe Flash has NOT, repeat NOT WORKED RIGHT since version #11. And I can ALSO understand WHY Steve Jobs never utilized Flash because of security concerns. Can't blame him. So. What does this mean? Is Mozilla going to part ways with Adobe and go with someone else or what? I would REALLY like to know. Especially in the last two weeks I've been having SERIOUS problems with BOTH Mozilla and Flash. With Firefox 39 I'm STILL in Safe Mode because certain websites are STILL causing Firefox to crash, or causing my H.P. Laptop to freeze up. I also find it funny that Facebook wants Flash DEAD!!!!! Any thoughts?
Hi crazycappy01, Adobe released a bulletin indicating that version 18.0.0.203 had security vulnerabilities, so Mozilla "soft-blocked" it. That meant you needed to activate it on a site-by-site basis. Adobe issued an update today, so things are back to normal with Flash once you get the update.

In the first table, look for the row for "plugin-based browsers" and you can use either the EXE or the MSI installer.
So either EXE or MSI will work? I DO HOPE EVERYTHING I've been experiencing for the last two weeks will be improved. Including Firefox crashes.
How does this work out for Mac OSX 10.6.8, which Apple no longer supports. Some of this stuff was "built in" to OSX.
