I deleated both. after deleation I ran super anti spy ware nothing, microsoft safety scanner nothing. adw cleaner nothing. jrt nothing combo fix nothing rkill nothing malwarebytes bingo it showed that cc cleaner ext was infected with malware I deleated cc cleaner and cleaner ext. ran malewarebytes again nothing. I reinstalled firefox and cc cleaner with out add ware block nothing computer is back to normal running fine. as long as add ware block was on computer nothing showed up. I do not think updater.ext is used by Mozilla. I looked it up. Some entries were for updating programs. One entry claimed Malware.

You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

norton insite is telling me that firefox.exe and updater.exe are running all the time. they are using 91% of memory. it is comming from 52.3.0.6423 that was released one month ago. I ran the following malwarebytes, superanti spyware, microsoft safety scanner, adw cleaner. combofix, rkill, jrt. and nothing comes up.

Using your computers file explorer, look for updater.exe Right-click and select Properties. Look around. Anything about where/who the program is from?

And where is the file located? Full path, please.

the file is located c:\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe

it is in the program files folder in the mozilla firefox folder

That is the regular Firefox updater program.

How much physical memory do you have installed on your computer?

You can also try to increase the size of the page file (virtual memory) via the Windows Control Panel.
