I have a brand new MacBook Air running OS 10.7.4 and Firefox 12.0. I performed a clean install of FireFox and it works just fine. Saving and organizing bookmarks is ok. However, FF won't save my usernames and passwords even if I have Private Browsing turned off and Remember Passwords turned on. I didn't have this problem on my MacBook running OS 10.6.8 and FireFox 12.

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?

There is a difference between remembering the name and password in the Password Manager and a "remember me" check box on a web page to log you in automatically.
The latter usually involves the creation of a special "remember me" cookie that is stored on your computer and that is send to the server.
If that "remember me" cookie is removed or gets corrupted or is not send to the server then the server won't remember you anymore and you need to sign in once again.

He said exactly what he meant- "FF won't save my usernames and passwords," not "FF logs me out of sites when I close the browser." I have also instantly lost all my usernames and passwords from Password Manager, and it's not even prompting me to save them when I enter new ones. It's exceedingly irritating. I would rather be using a 5 year-old browser version than lose all my logins like this.
