Deleted messages still showing as a number on the folder.
It drives me a little crazy that even after I delete a message, it still shows up as a number on the folder because it hasn't been marked as read.
Is there a way to make it stop counting those? I really only want that number to represent the NEW messages that I haven't read.

how do you select a message to delete it without marking it as read?
it doesn't mark as read immediately. takes about 4 seconds... but I can delete stuff I know is crap faster than that.
no, I don't want to change that timing. I like it the way it is. I just want stuff I put in the trash to be marked as read.

Change the timing, or put up with it. Mail that has not been displayed more than the time you specified is not read. The default being immediately. You can not have your cake and eat it as well.
