use same profile for windows 10 32 bit and linux 64 bit
I have a dual boot system. Windows 10 and Ubuntu mate 18.04. I have a data drive where my Thunderbird 32 bit profile resides. My Thunderbird profile resides on a data drive that is accessiable form either Windows or Ubuntu. A few versions ago (of Thunderbird) I was able to use the same profile for both machines. With the current version of Thunderbird 68.5.0 Windows and Thunderbird 68.2.2 Ubuntu the Thunderbird on Ubuntu says the profile is incompatible. My primary usage is with Window 10 boot. Do I have the upgrade my Windows Thunderbird to 64 bit for the same profile to work? Is it still possible to have only one profile?

If a profile has been used in 68.5, you will get an error message like the attached picture if you try to open it with a lower version. This happens no matter which operating systems are employed, and with any two versions in the 68 branch, e.g. 68.4.2 and 68.2.2, and doesn't depend on 32-bit or 64-bit.
If you launch TB in Linux with the Profile Manager command switch, add this:
--allow-downgrade
to run the Windows profile with 68.2.2.
