New version of Firefox causing lock-up of computer?
Since the new version of Firefox installed itself yesterday I am noticing that the computer frequently locks up. Looking at the processes, I am seeing multiple iterations of Firefox. My memory is maxed out (this computer has 8 GB!) Also the hard disk faults have been very high. I don't know if it's the new version that's causing this but nothing else on my computer has changed. And I have not seen so many iterations of Firefox processes before.

More than one process is normal for the current Firefox. http://www.ghacks.net/2016/07/22/multi-process-firefox/
Multi-process Firefox is codenamed "e10s". https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/multiprocess
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
