I am using Windows 8 on a Microsoft Surface Pro. I've always used Firefox but after using IE10 on this device it's difficult to go back now. I'm really surprised at the performance differences and would like to know if maybe I don't have something enabled or what. Scrolling through any web page on IE10, no matter how cluttered, is as smooth as an iPad4, maybe even better. Pinch/zoom on web pages is also incredibly smooth. In Firefox neither of these operations are at all smooth for me. Pinch/zoom is very framy, and so is trying to scroll web pages. I'm running an HD4000 IGP in the Surface Pro and about:support shows that GPU acceleration is turned on.

Why is IE so much smoother?
