My domain provider is saying Thunderbird is not compatible with Microsoft Exchange Server and that is why I'm not receiving some of my emails. He said I won't receive some of these emails till Thunderbird updates their system. Are we missing something?

It depends somewhat on your account. Thunderbird does not have native support to Exchange, but there are two addons, OWL and EXQUILLA, that provide the full access to Exchange. When I worked with a company using Exchange, I used the EXQUILLA addon and was 100% able to interact with the account. Neither is free, but neither is expensive. I encourage you to check the features of each (they're developed and maintained by same vendor). I think the fee was $10 a year, but that was a few years ago. Well worth the price when I was working there.
