Need to have pop3 email not deleted when downloaded or after fixed time, but definitely deleted when I delete them locally.

I have the settings as "leave messages on server" checked, and "until I delete them". But when I delete them locally, it has no effect on the server: I still get them as new messages on another machine, and see them in webmail. I have to check each one individually, as in one of Gmail's ugliest features, to delete them there. I had thought from the help and the plain sense of the text accompanying these checkboxes that Tbird would tell my ISP's server to delete them, probably on the next check for new mail cycle. What can I do to fix this annoying problem? I'm dealing with about 30,000 unwanted messages with perhaps 1,000 I want to keep, which I have not deleted locally. Thanks in advance!

Make a backup of your Profile folder.

I'm not sure how often you compact folders, so just in case there is an unknown corrupt folder, please create a backup first.

Additional: Backup info:

Then try this: 'File' > 'Compact Folders' or 'Menu icon' > 'File' > 'Compact Folders'

When compacting is finished, click on 'Get Messages', so TB connects to the server.

Then in webmail account check results, if webmail is already logged on and open, please refresh the page.

Did this work?
