Hi

I am trying to move my attachments from my thunderbird email to a 3rd party platform. They have the drag & drop facility but I am not able to drag n drop from thunderbird but have to save to desktop first before dragging n dropping :-(

Are there any email settings I can change to make this process easier and faster?

Thanks Vips

drag and drop works with known data types. most folk assume an attachment is a file. It is not it is a mime encoded peice of text. IT becomes a file when it is saved to dropped into the file system.

So I suppose you get your third party software to support mime encoded text in drag and drop.

Thanks Matt for your response, however, according to the 3rd party they are able to have drag and drop facility from outlook mail on a pc, but as I am on a mac and using thunderbird and I wish to drag and drop PDF and .doc/.docx formats from my mail messages into the third party platform, their support team asked me to contact thunderbird to see if there were any email settings I should change, as apparently that is what needs to change if the outlook settings are not correct from outset. Hence my original question :-(

Kind regards Vips

Hmm, look like I had it wrong.... but that does not help you.

Thunderbird instantiates a file object. For windows at least at the beginning of the drag. However when I search Bugzilla for drag and drop and osx I get a minefield of bugs. your third party application. is is a java or javascript application? some more information about it would help I think.

Thanks Matt, not sure what it is they use as not techie person :-( they are a recruitment service provider so the documents I am trying to transfer are CV's, so I am trying to get them off my email system to what will become my recruitment portal in the cloud...
