I have always had Google as my search engine. Today I opened Firefox and found my default search engine and homepage had been changed to Yahoo. I was able to change my homepage, but not the search engine. I open the preferences pane and it allows me to select Google as the default, but as soon as I close the preferences pane it immediately reverts to Yahoo. I've tried selecting it and quitting Firefox and it stills reverts. I've tried selecting it and quitting and rebooting my computer and it still reverts. I haven't put any new add-ons or extensions recently, so am a bit perplexed. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

please go through how to Search bar - add, change and manage search engines on Firefox.

Report us back if this work.

That is already what I did as I explained above. It does not work.

It sounds like you may have installed the Yahoo Edition of Firefox - a special build made by Yahoo. Usually says so in Help > About Firefox.

If that is the case, uninstalling that special build and installing a genuine build obtained directly from Mozilla should get rid Yahoo, except for the Search Engine and some default prefs that are quite easily changed.

It was a good idea, but that was not the case. It's no the Yahoo edition.
