When I set Firefox as the default browser, the Short Cuts to Internet Explorer are removed and replaced with Firefox's short cuts. Yes, I know I can create a IE short cut, but there is no reason why Firefox should remove the IE short cuts, as I use both browsers..

Please let me know if there is a fix for this. I have one program (site) that requires me to have Firefox as the default and others requiring IE as the default. I would like to switch back and forth between IE and Firefox changing the default. I do not need 2 Firefox short cuts, which is what Firefox creates.

UPDATE

I mentioned in my question, "Yes, I know I can create an IE short cut". However, if I create a Short cut to IE, and then change the default to Firefox, Firefox removes my short cut to Internet Explorer. This is what happens after the Firefox is change to the default and I click on the IE shortcut; 1. It searches for the program. 2. It give an error message which is, “The item Internet Explorer.ink that this shortcut refers to has been changed or Moved. The nearest match…”

So, basically, Firefox, changes the shortcut that I created to a shortcut that does not work. I believe it changes the extension to .ink, which does not make any sense. The work around would be for me to create a new shortcut EVERY time I change the default from IE to Firefox. Note: When I change IE to the default, the Firefox shortcut does not get changed.

Internet shortcuts open always in the default browser, so if you change the default browser from IE to Firefox then they open in Firefox.

You need to create copies of the IE and Firefox desktop shortcut and add the URL to the command line if you want to open an URL in a specific browser regardless of the default browser setting.
