How do I open a page in an app
So if I go to, say, YouTube, I can tap the android button to open in app. However, this only works properly for a few specific applications. So for example, if I go to Trello, or Reddit, I can still tap the android button, and it still opens the app, but it seemingly opens it in (or over the top of) Firefox - the page is opened in the app, but that replaces FF. And if I use the system back button, it exits the app and dumps me back in FF.
Is there any way I can stop this behaviour and force them to open properly, or is it to do with the way specific apps have been built (and how they interact with FF)?

This sounds like it works exactly as it's supposed to work. What's your understanding of 'force them to open properly'?
Open in the app, not temporarily replace Firefox. The two different scenarios:
1.
- I open a link to YouTube. It has the Android button, I click it. - I now have two apps open, Firefox and YouTube. I can continue using Firefox if I wish and come back to the video later, or switch between FF and YT, or whatever: they are two different apps and act like two different apps.
2. - I open a link to Trello. It has the Android button, I click it. - Trello opens, but even though it is the Trello app, there are _not_ two discretely accessible applications open. If I press the system home button and view the open apps, the only app that shows as open is Firefox. But FF is not accessible (I cannot switch tabs, because Trello has now replaced FF) — I cannot switch between FF and Trello. This is not what I would expect the behaviour to be given the first scenario described above, and can be extremely frustrating, as it tends to break in-app navigation.
This difference in behaviour is, afaics, not something I've managed to enable via any settings, and I can't figure out why some apps behave one way and some behave the other way.
