Using Firefox Quantum 60.0.1 (64-bit). When first started, the OSX dock icon (right-click) shows the "New Window / New Private Window" options.

I have noticed that if I open the "Bookmarks" and "Show all bookmarks", the option is still available. However, once the "Library" page showing all bookmarks is closed, the options disappear (reproducable).

Hi, it is possibly a corrupted file. Unfortunately to fix that for you will take a Refresh to do so. Suggest doing below just in case :

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Hi - Thanks for this suggestion. I've tried what you suggested, but it hasn't solved the problem. I also asked a friend who has a different MacBook and gave him the sequence to reproduce the problem and he managed to do so. I think it may be Mac-specific as it doesn't seem to happen with Firefox on Ubuntu. FYI - The Ubuntu test was done on Ubuntu 16.04 with FF Quantum 60.0.1 (64-bit) I wonder if anyone using Windows has come across anything like this?

Further testing reveals that opening any of the following also causes this problem.

  • Firefox / About Firefox
  • Tools / Page Info
  • Tools / Downloads
  • History / Show all history

Hi, please check your Mac Forum for anyone else having this issue and if they have figured out the issue on their end.

If after checking and posting and get answered on this include the URL of your forum posting along with doing this : have a bug, file a bug report. *https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ Bug Writing Guidelines : https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/QA/Bug_writing_guidelines

Figure out if this happens in version 60.0.1 as that is the current version and run our MAC version :

before posting anything. Provide the URL where you downloaded from. Thanks.

Hi - Thanks for the pointers to the bug reporting site. Looks like there is already a bug in the system for this behaviour.

It's been there a while, so we'll just have to wait and see which version gets a fix.
