I did a refresh of Firefox today, and I don't know if I didn't do something right or what, but it totally messed up my Firefox. I deleted it and re-downloaded it, but now I get the "Connection is untrusted" error message for every site - google, mozilla, you name it. After I did the refresh, I did have a folder on my desktop that said "old firefox data" which I saved. Can any one help?

What security (anti-virus) software do you have?

Some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate. You can check that by retrieving and inspecting the certificate.

  • Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
  • Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate"
  • Click the "View" button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.

You can see more details like the intermediate certificates that are used in the Details tab.

Try to copy the cert8.db file from the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop to the current Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
