i tried watching an episode of Friends on vodlocker & gorillavid & it starts to skip, the video become staticky, changes to green then crashes. (shockwave)

also Pandora does the same thing. i listen to a song, it starts to skip, shockwave crash box pops up. i stop the plugin then the tab closes.

i allow Adobe flash to run on the page.

i have no add ons or downloads. i reset firefox yesterday. i'm confused as to whats wrong.

oh maybe i should stop skipping the disk check.

i started getting that a few months ago after i did an improper shut down. i saw the message when i started up again & started panicking.

maybe thats why i can't do a system restore anymore either.

tomorrow when i get on, i let the check run.

if that is the case i am soooo very sorry Fred for wasting your time for the past 2 weeks.

Helping someone is not a waste of time. Before you go to bed, Reboot the computer. Then run the disk utilities. Sometimes they take a long time, depending on your disk size.

thanks. yea it does take a long time. i let it run last night for almost an hour & it stopped at stage 2 of 3 with 30% done.

it checked 4982802 of 5077420 files.

i let it run again this morning for over an hour & it stopped at 4982851 of 5077420 files.

maybe tonight i should just leave the computer on all night & see if it finishes.

Please do. That area could have a problem that the program is trying to fix. Shutting the program down leaves the error still there.

Do you know that other utility programs you have on your system?

more options

i tried it again for over an hour & both numbers changed. it checked 4987979 of 5081786 files. it still got 30 % done. hopefully letting it run all night gets it to 100%.

i'm not sure what utility programs are. if it was already installed then i have it. if i had to install it then i don't have it.

Don't worry about it for now. Let the program run, and don't stop it.

i'm assuming the check finished sometime during the night. but the installer box is still blank. (i'm just hoping my mom didn't touch anything after i went to sleep)

this is what i did. i remove the last download & i re download it. i open the containing folder. close out of firefox. i run as admin. check yes for adobe to make changes. then i close out of the downloads box.

am i closing out of something too soon or not fast enough.

don't be sorry. you've been a big help.

i found this site.

SBO

it says Change the level of security so you can install Flash Player. In Firefox, go to Tools > Options > Content and Tools > Options > Security and choose less restrictive settings. Change the level of security so you can install Flash Player. In Firefox, go to Tools > Options > Content and Tools > Options > Security and choose less restrictive settings.

but i'm not seeing anything about changing the level of security when i go to Content.

& also found this

Comm

should i try the offline installer.

more options

SBO There is no Content and Tools option in Firefox. There is a Content but that tells FF what to do with what type of file.

Comm The link posted is no good.

Use this link. After the download is done, close all programs. Then run it.

It is possible to watch videos on a 32 bit version of a program on an os that is 64 bit (backwards compatible and all) I think you may be onto something for security. I also noticed you had Macaffee which does not every give me trouble when I update or test an reinstall plugins. But just in case have you tried the offline installer with the antivirus disabled. (Forgive me if this has been tried already, there are a few threads like this)

Side note: They did find some exploits and added them their scan in mcaffe version 8.2 see more

seems i'm not the only one having troubles getting adobe to install. theres topic after topic here

Adobe Community

& a staff member keeps providing the same offline installer link that doesn't seem to be working for anyone.

i don't understand the whole 32/64 bit. so you want me to try installing it & not checking the optional offer for McAfee (which is already on my desktop)?? the offline installer just shows the download box.

i tried looking for flash addons for firefox but i got nowhere.

To be clear this is for Internet Explorer only (activeX) and not Plugin-based browsers like Firefox.

Get Flash (Plugin-based browsers) from below as it will be free of McAffe and anything else that may be added. https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

Firefox for Windows from mozilla.org is Win32 so 64-bit Plugins will not work as it needs to be 32-bit even though you are using 64-bit Windows. Win32 Firefox works on 64-bit Windows however Win64 does not work on 32-bit Windows.

The earliest there may be a Win64 Firefox release is Firefox 37.0 in a first phase of release though it will not have much Plugins support initially. Even then you may still need to use Win32 Firefox to use Flash plugin.

Firefox never does run instead of saving .exe both for security and common sense reasons. Also who do you think people will blame when they run instead of scanning iamreallyatrojanorvirus.exe first.

Fred that seems to be working. i must not have seen that one. lets see if it works everywhere. if this really does continue to work, i am not going to sleep & am knocking out every single show i am behind on.

thanks James. but i'm pretty sure i've tried there before the link is in purple. & i'm pretty sure i already tried both of the macromedia links.

so am i going to have to wait until firefox 37.0 to install adobe? my brain doesn't want to understand anything right now.

thanks to you both & everyone else who has put up with me since i made this topic. i'm not gonna say my problem is solved just yet.
