Option "Prefer client-side email scheduling" is unselectable
Hello everybody,
after switching to a new Mail-Provider, I am facing the following issue in Thunderbird 68.10.0:
I would like Thunderbird to send out the invitations of my appointments. But currently the CalDav-server itself is sending out the invitations instead and I cannot change this.
I have followed the descriptions in this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enable-email-invitations-caldav-servers-configured
But when I reach the "edit calender" dialog, the checkbox "Prefer client-side email scheduling" is unselectable. See attached image.
In fact, with my previous Mail-provider, this option was selectable. For me it looks like there is something in the communication between Thunderbird and the CalDav-Server which tells Thunderbird, that this option is not available. But this is just a wild guess.
What can I do to make Thunderbird send out the invitations of my appointments?
Thanks a lot in advance!
Best, Christian

have you asked your new provider if they support the option? My guess is they do not. Hence the option being disabled.

Dear Matt,
thanks a lot for your help. You are right:
My provider (Hetzner.com) is using Horde as their Webmail-Server. And Horde is insisting on sending out the mails itself instead of letting the mail client sending mails.
That would be ok, if Horde would do it right. Unfortunately Horde has the annoying "feature" that Horde is sending out a notification to every(!) participant, if one of the participants (not necessarily the organizer) changes anything(!) on the appointment locally.
My solution: Use Nextcloud as CalDav-Server and forget about Horde.
Best, Christian
Dear Matt, thanks a lot. You are right: They use Horde and Horde does insist on sending the mails itself. :-( Best, Christain
