Trying to run applets that are being compiled using Java 8. I had JRE 1.8 installed on my machine but when I run the site I'm making, the embed applets don't work and what I have below is what pops up which says JRE 1.7 is being used. How can I change this so 1.8 is used???

Java Plug-in 10.55.2.14 Using JRE version 1.7.0_55-b14 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM User home directory = C:\Users\Adam

Note that you need to install the 32-bit Java version as Firefox is a 32 bit application.
The 64-bit Java version doesn't work with Firefox.

There has been a change in the Java security settings, see:

If you visit a website regularly then a possible workaround is to add the URL to the Java Exceptions Site List, see:

I have done all that, not a security problem as far as I see. It's just the wrong JRE is being used. Want to use 1.8 (which is installed) but firefox keeps using 1.7
