The 1Password icon is disappearing each time I reboot, even though 1Password is installed and enabled in the Add-ons list.

I use 1Password and have it installed as an add-on in Firefox. The button for 1Password has been disappearing upon booting up in the mornings 8 out of 10 times during the past months. I have checked the add-ons list and 1Password is installed and enabled. I have spent hours going back and forth with Agile Bits to problem solve, too. I have installed a new Firefox profile, upgraded to the latest Firefox version and 1Password version, reinstalled the 1Password extension several times -- and still it doesn't show up in the morning when I start up. Agile Bits is out of ideas and so am I. We'd like to get some help from Mozilla. Agile Bits has offered to talk to you directly to help solve this problem. My husband who works with Safari doesn't have any problems with his 1Password add-on.

You can check for problems caused by a corrupted localstore.rdf file.

Okay, did that. Now 1Password add-on show up but FireFTP doesn't anymore :(. Reset localstore.rdf twice to make sure...

Try to uninstall and reinstall FireFTP.

Another possibility is to use the chrome URL for the user interface if items in the menu and toolbar buttons are missing.

  • chrome://fireftp/content/fireftp.xul

I did the uninstall, reinstall. Didn't help. Not sure how using the chrome URL helps with the missing button problem. I can bookmark the page, sure. But that's not quite what I had in mind -- and what I thought should happen if an add-on has been installed and is active...

And we are back. Started up Firefox this morning and neither FireFTP nor 1Password button is there. This is getting old. I'm not sure if I need to switch to another internet platform?!? Please help!!!

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

See "Corrupt extension files":

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left end side of the Search Bar ("Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to check if there is a compatibility update available.

Okay, did that, too. Still not working. Right now 1Password came back up but FireFTP is not there. So far I have:

  1. installed a new Firefox profile
  2. update to the latest Firefox version
  3. updated 1Password to the next version and uploaded and disabled it several times
  4. disabled and uploaded FireFTP several times
  5. deleted localstore a couple of times
  6. deleted extension.* files and compatibility.ini

Result: instead of 1Password not showing up now FireFTP isn't showing up -- and 1Password only comes up occasionally. Anything else I can delete to try make this work?
