Fire Fox will not print (printer dialog box doesnt come up)
PC info:
Win 7 Home Premium x64 Firefox 8.0.1
I cannot get firefox to print or even bring up the printer dialog box at all. Print Preview works but the PRINT button does nothing. I have uninstalled (both keeping user data and not keeping it) Created a new profile, Repaired Install and still nothing. Also all other programs and web browsers (IE and Chrome) print just fine. When going into about:config there is no print.print_printer at all. Please help

This ticket can be closed. I scanned the PC with Combofix and it removed several malicous items. After a reboot, firefox is now printing again and buttons are working correctly again
Thanks for the assistance

First try to reset Firefox printer settings, if you are still unable to print you can then reset all firefox printer settings.
You mentioned there is no print.print_printer when you go to about:config. You have to type it in the actual filter field to pull it up.
Reset firefox printer settings:
1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter.
2. In the Filter field, type print.print_printer.
3. Right-click on the print.print_printer setting and select Reset.
4. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (File menu in Windows XP) and then click Exit.
The first way was just simple reset of firefox printer settings. However, if it failed to solve the problem then you need a full reset of all firefox printer settings. 1. Open your profile folder: At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button, go over to the Help menu (on Windows XP, click on the Help menu) and select Troubleshooting Information. The Troubleshooting Information tab will open.
2. Under the Application Basics section, click on Open Containing Folder. A window with your profile files will open. Note: If you are unable to open or use Firefox, follow the instructions in Finding your profile without opening Firefox. 3. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (File menu in Windows XP) and then click Exit.
4. In your profile folder, copy the prefs.js file to another folder to make a backup of it.
5. Open the original prefs.js file in a text editor (such as Wordpad).
6. Remove all lines in prefs.js that start with print. and save the file.

there is no print.print_printer in the about:config even after applying the filter... But i went ahead and followed your instructions to do a full reset, deleting all print. in the prefs file. After saving and restarting I still have the same issue File, Print or CTRL + P does the same thing, nothing. Also there is still no print.print_printer in the about:config. I would past a screen shot but the "BROWSE" button on this page to add an images doesnt work either (or on webpages such as hotmail when adding an attachement)... Related????
Actually it may be some addon or extension interfering with the print commands etc. Restart firefox in safe mode which disables all extensions, add ons etc. and then try to print. If it works then we know its one of the disabled extensions & you simply enable each one by one until the problem starts & you are unable to print again & then you will have found the extension responsible. Let's try safe mode by doing as follows.
How to start Firefox in Safe Mode
At the top of the Firefox window, click the Firefox button, go over to the Help menu and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.... Firefox will start up with the Firefox Safe Mode dialog.
Note: You can also start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the shift key while starting Firefox.
From the Firefox Safe Mode Window:
Do not check any of the boxes from this window, only select continue in safe mode as explained below
Click the Continue In Safe Mode button. While you are in Safe Mode, your extensions and themes will be disabled, and any toolbar customizations will be reverted back to their defaults. These changes are not permanent - when you leave Safe Mode and start Firefox up normally, your extensions, themes, and settings will return to the state they were in before you entered Safe Mode.
