Why does Quicktime suddenly give me version and vulnerability errors for QT v 7.6.6 after updating to firefox 22?
After forced update to Firefox 22, Quicktime fails with a "version 7.6.6 vulnerability error". I'm running OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.8. The Firefox plugin (tools/Add-ons) also shows the vulnerability. Most suggested solutions, AND the Firefox troubleshooter, show:
File: QuickTime Plugin.plugin Path: /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/QuickTime Plugin.plugin Version: 7.6.6 State: Enabled (STATE_VULNERABLE_UPDATE_AVAILABLE)
BUT, when I use Finder, I can't find the file or folder. The only plugin listed in that folder is Google Earth.
My system shows everything is current, OS, apps, et al, with the current Quicktime version 10, so there's no possibility to UPDATE_AVAILABLE, because there IS NO more current Quicktime update than the one I'm using.
If this is a true Quicktime version vulnerability, why all of a sudden does Firefox take two years for it to finally show up in Firefox 22? And since mys system is fully updated, there seems no possibility to upgrade to a newer version of Quicktime than 7.6.6, the one that apparently shipped with OSX 10.6.8. If it IS an error, I have no idea how to fix it.
Meanwhile, Quicktime still runs in Safari.

hello, quicktime 7.7.0 and lower on mac os x have been put on the blocklist by mozilla recently (this is not directly related to the firefox 22 release & will also take effect in prior versions of the browser).
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/p408
in the appropriate bug report i've asked to revisit this decision, maybe the situation for mac os x 10.6 wasn't taken into consideration - quicktime 7.6.6 is the latest version available to download on apple's website for that system...

Latest Quick time version is 7.7.4
The vulnerability is for outdate and its vulnerable for browser.
Goto Mozilla plugin site and click update to update your quicktime

@iamjayakumars: Mozilla Plugin Check tells me, that QT 7.6.6 is up to date!
I have firefox 22.0 and quicktime 7.7.1 on mac 10.8.4
and I have the SAME problem, no sound
I check for Quicktime updates and there is no quicktime update for mac 7.7.4
anyone know when this will get fixed?
Hi spidey23, the original problem in this thread is that the QuickTime 7.6.6 plugin is marked as vulnerable and needing an update, but none is available for MacOS X 10.6.
It sounds as though you might be having a different problem, which is you are not getting any sound accompanying your videos -- is that the problem? If so, you might want to start a new thread which focuses on that issue and mention in the subject line (the question) that it's on the Mac. You can do that here:

Waving hand. I know this says solved, but I don't feel 'solved' when I notice my quicktime plug in claims its out of date. I'm also running Snow Leopard and have both 7.6.6 and 10. Perhaps you could make a note of that on the 'update plug ins' page so as not to confuse people?
