Hello mozilla community,

today I installed manjaro linux (hurray!). I imported my Firefox profile from windows by copying the profile folder to the firefox profile folder on my manjaro system. I find everything (bookmarks, add-ons,...) but not my passwords. I copied the files logins.jasons, key3.db and key4.db, as it is told on the Firefox help website: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-old-profile or here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles#w_restoring-a-profile-backup

But it does not work. I cannot find any of my passwords. Any suggestions?

Best!

HI,

  • logins.json (passwords) and key4.db (58+) or key3.db (57 and older) (decryption key) for Passwords saved in the Password Manager
  • if you only have key3.db then make sure to remove an existing key4.db

Which Firefox version was used on the Windows computer?

Note that you should be cautious when you copy a full profile folder. Best is to only copy personal data (files) you really need.
