In my case I am debugging a Flex application and found that 100% of the time Firefox would crash the Adobe plugin. So I disabled the plugin timeout. Type "about:config" to bring up the config change dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs to -1. -1 will disable it or you could set the number of secs if you want.

Have you put libflashplayer.so in /usr/lib/mozilla/firefox3.6.6/plugins directory?

I hadn't, which meant I had exactly the same symptoms you're having - worked in Seamonkey but not in Firefox.

Date being July 8, 2010. Since I've upgraded to firefox 3.6.6, my flashplayer drags or will not load flashbased programs.

I have both latest version of firefox and flash as of above date. I did notice a new program running on my computer's task manager, called plugin-container. It starts running when I click on a flash program and then stops. If I click on it to end it, it causes whatever flash programs on screen to read, flash has crashed and does not give a reason why.

Flash player is now not working in in this version 3.6.6

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100625 Firefox/3.6.6

I am having to go to safari to use you tube.

The flash player seems to be playing but only displays a black box in its place. When you click on the black area, it pauses the video. On the youtube website, it displays a black box. On other websites using flash player, only a white box appears (or maybe the websites background colour). But still plays in the background automatically, and pauses when area is clicked.

Any help?

Firefox 3.6.6 w/ latest adobe 10 installed. I get a black box or sometimes a white box with streaks on it.

I downloaded google chrome and flash works on it. Would prefer to stay with firefox...but spending hours and hours of uninstalling and reinstalling flash has me frustrated and chrome "just works."

Thanks

For me, I downgraded back to firefox 3.5.1 to play flash correctly, the version before they started using the plugin-container.exe to manage flash separately from firefox browser.

I checked mozilla.com search for it. It copied itself over firefox 3.6.6, which was good since I could not remove ff3.6.6 in my xp add/remove control panel.
