Force the reading view on sites when the 'reading view icon' is gone

I used to be able to force the reading view on websites that doesn't show the reading view icon in the address bar, under menu. Now on FF 49.0 on Android 5.0.1 I can't find the icon anywhere on some sites.

Why did this feature of forcing the reading view disappear?

Or am I doing something wrong?

Can someone tell me why the feature to force the reading view was dismantled? As I read a lot online this is one of the reasons to have Firefox on my tablet.

Are you sure you didn't have an addon for that? I didn't have such an option available myself. If it was an addon, it might be no longer compatible.

Yes, I'm sure it wasn't an addon. Can't remember when I saw it but have been using it for three(?) years. Mostly reading blogs on LJ, but now it doesn't work there anymore. And my setting for LARGE letters doesn't work either @LJ. Some sites work. The 'pocket' feature(addon) isn't always working either, I'm logged in @LJ but when saving to pocket it just says 'are you over 18?' and no login option. GAH!
