Address book
My desktop system crashed; had to have a new HD installed. I had 99% of my stuff backed up, so I lost almost nothing. Except for the Thunderbird address book. I have several Thunderbird backups. If I've looked this up correctly, the address book is a .bam file. I have several "profile" files. Is there any way to open a .bam files to see if it has my actual address book. And if there is a way to open the .bam file, is there a way to copy just this file into the current Thunderbird profile?

I think you mean .mab files. They can be viewed in a text editor. To import a mab file, first backup the existing abook.mab or abook.sqlite files, rename the file you wish to import to abook.mab, then restart TB. This will show the contacts in Personal Address Book. To repeat this with other mab files, first create a new address book in Address Book and move the current PAB contacts to the new book by drag and drop.
