Mail that Thunderbird labels as "Junk" is going directly to Inbox instead of Junk Mail folder.
Thunderbird is identifying Junk mail (generally correctly), but the Junk mail is going first to my Inbox instead of Junk mail folder. What is the purpose of having a junk mail folder if ALL mail is being delivered to the Inbox?

how is Thunderbird identifying the mail as junk?
I ask because as a general rule Thunderbird defaults to marking mail as junk (the flame icon on the mail list) and then moving it to the junk folder.
The flame icon is used to identify Junk mail (and generally speaking, Thunderbird is identifying correctly.) But the junk-flagged mail appears first in my Inbox. In fact, Thunderbird has stopped sending anything to my Junk mailbox. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
Always a difficult one. Sometime the cause is external sometime internal and sometime a mystery. But we can try.
Is the account IMAP or POP? Who is the provider?
Does newly received junk move if you restart Thunderbird in safe mode (without add-ons) from the help menu.
