Hi, sorry to hear issue persists. fyi: Hardware Acceleration is for your Video Card
Since it seems you have tons of updates how about try a 7min fix if it works. Please : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer
Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 58.0.2 with a Full Version Installer
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
Do you mean using Firefox's Search Bar, or Address Bar, or in the new tab page? What happens when you click the Amazon icon, or if you press Enter while the Amazon icon is selected?
If the Amazon icon is missing from those places, you could check the Search settings here:
- Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
- Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
- Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
- Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it
In the left column, click search.
In the One-Click Search Engines section, is Amazon listed and does it have a checkmark in the left column?
- If it's not listed, try the Restore Default Search Engines button below the box.
- If there's no checkmark, click in the left column area to turn it back on.
Any difference?

not tried it yet, but dunno why I would need too, it was working fine until a recent update (and as posted above, others have the issue as well)
anyway, captured the html code... perhaps it will lead to a solution

Sorry, no the code means nothing as Mozilla Firefox Support is by Volunteers and not paid staff of Firefox.
So please do the solution I gave you as it does work to fix issues. By deleting the folders if they are not getting uninstalled you throw out old code like Amazon not working code and the Install with a Full Version Installer will give you fresh clean code.
There is a reason behind the madness.
Or you can do this : Please Refresh but do this 1st: Delete your Cookies and Cache and TEST.
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
then
TEST....... If no issues then Extensions which need to be added back in 1 at a time and tested ..... Or it is your Profile : Make a new one and test ...:
If is your Profile :
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
Note: Any customization will revert back to default, you will also need to reinstall Extensions.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
Hi medievil, that looks like the HTML for the category drop-down at the left end of Amazon's search bar.

I haven't noticed any change in mouseability. (Example screenshot attached.) If it matters, I am doing a little ad blocking on that page.
If you press Alt+DownArrow while the control is selected, does it open?

exactly the issue... nope.. alt+ downarrow doesn't open it..I also have adblocking...only have 4 extensions total though...doubt any of them are the cause
Are similar select (drop-down) controls broken on other sites, or just Amazon?
I don't frequent many others that use it, just tried ebay though and nope doesn't work there either.... it's a fairly new profile..kinda strange the issue just popped up one day out of the blue
Alterado por medievil em

Or failed to pop up, as the case may be. ;-)
There's also a very plain example on this page (right side):
https://www.w3schools.com/tags/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml_select
One possibility is that Firefox is closing the drop-down instantly as though you were pressing the Esc key. I don't know whether you see any visual evidence of that, or whether the drop-down is invisible (graphics issue??), or whether the control simply does not open at all.
As you probably know, Firefox is a multi-process application. One odd thing about this design is that certain form elements such as select controls require interprocess communications (IPC) between the web page process and the application process. This could be an IPC problem, but I don't know what causes that. Maybe a security configuration setting or external security software. Can you recall any changes related to security around the time this problem started?
well fixed it, must have been a bugged file write/save... anyway, renamed the prefs.js and started FF back up so it could recreate it... it is working now, lost my theme, but all my other customization's (tabs on bottom, menu item placements, etc..) remained intact... even got it to restore the previous session
Hmm, I wonder what it was. If you use a text comparison program like WinMerge (http://winmerge.org/) to compare the old and new prefs.js file, that might help uncover the key setting. Of course, there is a lot of noise in any comparison because of the various generated values that Firefox stores in the file, so it may not leap out at you.
