Today I could not even reach firefox help due to a cert error. I could not confirm an exception to it. This happened on every site, even ones like Google. I want to permanently get rid or turn off this so called feature which has no value that I can see other than making use of your browser more difficult. There should be an option to uninstall this feature. Today, firefox is unusable due to this issue and I am using IE to send in this problem. If there is no solution, then I will have to stop using firefox after using it for many years.

hello, first please make sure that the date & time is set correctly on your system.
if this doesn't solve the issue (or it is already set properly), could you tell us which error code is shown under technical details on the error message and when you inspect the certificate which issuer information it does contain (see screenshot)?

"This Connection is Untrusted" error message appears - What to do

See the image below. I had to use IE to reach you as Firefox will not accept Mozilla as a trusted site. The date and time are correct.

this will most likely be due to security software (which one are you using?) or other potentially unwanted software that is monitoring or intercepting encrypted network traffic on your pc. there is no general way to turn these warnings off, so you'd have to find the root issue that is causing them to get it resolved...

is the "i understand the risks" section which would allow you to inspect a certificate (like in my screenshot from above) showing up on any different https-site?

I am using Norton 360. Even when I turn it off, I get the same problem. This started yesterday. Previously, I skip cert was able to turn off the notice.

could you go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us a clue what is going on...

The warning shows up on all sites, even Google.

I can't get to Firefox help from firefox. I get the warning in the screenshot shown above.

this is an internal firefox page which shouldn't display this error - alternatively you can reach it by typing about:support into the address bar...

See the screenshot attached. I went back to an old version of Firefox (16) this morning to see if it would work because Firefox 26 would not work. The old version has the same problem.

ok, no direct cause is apparent there, but please try to hit the "reset firefox" button on that page - maybe this will at least bring back the "i understand the risks" section on the error page which makes it possible to inspect a certificate to find out the issuer information. this shout give hints which software is involved in the issue (from my experiences software like eset, kaspersky, bitdefender, fiddler, sendori and others can cause this behaviour).

Note that you have OCSP disabled (security.OCSP.enabled = 0)

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Encryption: Certificates > Validation

Is that page opened in a frame or iframe?

If "I Understand the Risks" is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".

You can try to inspect the HTTP response headers with the Live Http Headers extension.

Please update to the current Firefox 26 release.

  • Help > About Firefox

The Firefox 16 version that you currently run is no longer supported with security updates.

  • It is important to update Firefox and add-ons to the latest version to get all security fixes.
