How can i retrieve message lost by pressing Space bar accidentally

Had just written fairly long message, getting near the end and I pressed something (probably not Space bar, as that wouldn`t have had this effect!) - possibly one of the Alt keys? Complete message disappeared, leaving only the salutation! Is it possible to retrieve the message?
