My settings are for Google search but bing keeps coming up, how do i get rid of Bing?

more options

I've deleted it from search enginve options. Disabled Cortana. Searched for it on my computer but couldn't find it. The search engine says google but when I search it goes to Bing. When I search for Google and try that way the same thing happens. It only happens with Google and not with other engines like Duckduckgo. I would like Google back what do I do?

Hi   Tufftie,
You probably already tried this,   but just in case:

In Windows:
Are you sure that in   'Settings'  you removed   'Bing'   and replaced it with   'Google'   ?

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac=<Command>)<Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove Bing Anything. Now do the same in the computers Programs Folder.

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Hi again Tufftie   !
We're not just going to give up,   let's try this: 'Add or remove a search engine in Firefox':   http://mzl.la/1VShhHu
Now, let's see if this will work.
Good luck and please, keep us posted   !

Hi Tufftie, where are you entering your search?

  • Inside Firefox, you have many options, including:
    • the address bar (where the URL of the current page usually appears)
    • the search bar (once you start typing, a small panel drops down with various search engine icons)
    • a bar in one of Firefox's built-in pages, such as the home page or new tab page
    • somewhere else?
  • Outside of Firefox, for example, in the Windows 10 system-wide search box -- sometimes can be diverted from Bing to a different site but it depends on the exact code Microsoft puts into the URL.

Bummer   !!!
Did this by any chance start after the   Microsoft Anniversary Update   ?

Hiya,
I don't want to be a pain in the you-know-where,   but it took me hours and hours to finally find   Bing   in the Windows10-menu:   it's well-hidden:   you have to scroll down and scroll down some more and than scroll down even some more  .........
If   Bing   keeps showing up,   it  has   to be found somewhere   !

Try again,  just once more   ?   (I'll stop nagging about it, if you already have tried this, promise   !)

Don't shoot,   but I am just as puzzled as you are, so:
After you've done all of that again and again and you've reached the part where its says:
'search in the address bar with'  ..........
Which search engine is mentioned there   ???

When you are typing in the search bar, the top line of the drop-down usually shows where your search will be sent. If that indicates Bing, right-click the search engine you want to use and choose Set as Default Search Engine. (Example screen shot attached.)

Also, be careful where your mouse is hovering: if it moves over the icon for a different search engine, Firefox may use that one when you press Enter.
