To print an e-mail message that I receive, I click Print Then a screen appears that says how do I want to save print output as? It goes to file explorer
in order to print an e-mail message, I am asked How do I want to save print output as? File explorer appears and I have a choice of what to pick, i.e., documents, downloads, etc. Somehow the e-mail message that I want to print ends up being an icon on the home page and a saved document in file explorer. I do not know how to print a Thunderbird e-message that I have received.

First, please make sure your printer is set as the default printer. This would be located in the 'Settings' or 'Control Panel under 'Printers'
I always use the 'Print Preview' first because it means I can check how it will look before printing.
select email so it is displayed in Message Pane. File > Print Preview or Menu icon > Print > Print Preview.
If text is too small, use the 'Scale' option at the top. Increase scale will increase font.
click on 'Print'. A window should open allowing you to select a printer. Please make sure your default printer has been selected. There may be an option 'Print to file' - do not select this. click on OK
I know that is the way the print function should work, but it is not working that way for me. The correct default printer is shown and it will print if I save the e-mail to e.g. Word and then print it from there. Please note, I am not printing an attachment. I am trying to print the actual e-mail message. I do not want to have to save an e-mail to Word or pdf, etc. and then print from there.
It sounds as if the 'microsoft XPS document writer' has been selected as the printer instead of your actual default printer.
