Why is my browser still telling me I need to update firefox when I already have. Some applications will not work because it says I am using an older version of Firefox but I am not. What do I do?

I have already updated firefox to the newest version 5.0. When I go to use the new video chat on facebook it says I need to update my browser so I go to the firefox home page and it is telling me that I am still using the old version of firefox. I have gone to the help button at the top of my page to check what version I am using and it says I am using 5.0 and I am up to date but your website and my facebook is telling me I am using the old version. What do I need to do?

Your UserAgent string in Firefox is probably messed up.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Agent

type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.
Filter = general.useragent.
Right-click the preferences that are bold, one line at a time, and select Reset.
Then restart Firefox

Your user agent string is not showing Firefox 5. possibly you have some plugin that is causing this problem, but may itself not be visible from Firefox. You should try to find any such plugin and consider uninstalling it.
