I don't seem to be able to view the "Downloads" window in FF4. (FF3.6 works fine however).

Methods I've tried:

  • Command + J
  • Tools menu -> Downloads
  • Window menu -> Downloads (yes, it shows in the Window menu)
  • Expose (the main firefox window is there, but not the downloads window)
  • Click+hold the firefox icon on the dock (gives the main window only)

Downloading of course does work correctly. This has been happening with all the FF4 betas I've tried.

Mac OS X 10.6.6.

Unfortunately that didn't fix it (good thinking though).

I've also tried

Neither fixes the issue I'm afraid.

It does appear to be profile related however, because when I log into the same computer under a different account the download window works as expected. (but deleting my entire profile to fix this isn't an option)

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

Thanks cor-el, if there are no other suggestions, that's what I'll do.

(btw, as mentioned earlier, a new profile does resolve the issue)
