cannot open .eml extensions...what am i missing here

i am getting more and more emails with attachments with .eml extensions. i am unable to open them with any program i try. what am i missing here? it can't be that difficult!

That is a file type used by email programs. IMO, with the number of people using web mail these days, and not an email client, people shouldn't be sending attachments on that format.

i have tried to open in outlook, yahoo, google and ms email programs....they don't know what to do with it.

i looked for plug ins, found a few but they did not help either.

any ideas?
