Feedback / Suggestion for the "X" button (close window button)

more options

Please please make it so that when closing Firefox with the X button in the top right will have Firefox remember the tabs that were open. There is an option in the settings but it seems since a recent update that this function only works if one quits from the hamburger menu. This is not how I would like to have it be. please save the session when closing with the X button in the top right of the screen. thank you. . this seems like an error or bug too as i have been closing the browser using the X button for a long time and not had any issues with the browser losing the tabs that were open. (unless i had multiple windows open, if I wanted window A's tabs but i close Window A before I close window B it would remember the tabs for window B.)

Regardless, please fix Firefox so I can use the X button in the top right to close the browser and have it remember the tabs that were open.

Hi Marcus, if you use X on the last window, Firefox should restore those tabs at startup. Some users run into problems by using X on a window that isn't the last window -- the window could be on a separate desktop, or it could be hidden for some reason. (If you could check Task Manager you would see firefox.exe continues running after 20 seconds.) These edge cases are why menu > Exit is the safest choice.

Also, of course, if tabs are not restored, check these:

(1) If Firefox didn't restore the session automatically:

  • "3-bar" menu button > History > Restore Previous Session
  • (menu bar) History > Restore Previous Session

(2) After that of if they are missing or grayed:

  • "3-bar" menu button > History > Recently Closed Windows
  • "Library" toolbar button > History > Recently Closed Windows
  • (menu bar) History > Recently Closed Windows
