Firefox Developer Edition and regular Firefox freezes and then says plugin-container.exe: A Breakpoint has been reached.
When I am watching a YouTube video, Firefox Developer Edition freezes, then when I close the window, Windows says plugin-container.exe: A Breakpoint has been reached. This also happens when I right click a flash player video.
I've tried toggling "dom.ipc.plugins.flash.disable-protected-mode", reinstalling Flash, and reinstalling Firefox Developer Edition.
This also happens on normal Firefox as well.

Hello spideynn, Firefox developer edition released under Aurora channel. That means it is in testing phase and it's not a stable release. So please consider to download Firefox's stable release which is currently 36.0

Or wait a day or two and see if the daily updates on the Developer Edition channel fix whatever is wrong at your end.

The only issue with downgrading is that I lose the Firefox debugging tools that I use frequently (ex. WebIDE, Responsive Design View)

I've been waiting for a few weeks, and hasn't been resolved (yet).
Latest update solved the crash on right click, but hasn't fixed the random plugin-container.exe breakpoint error.
The breakpoint error sounds as if you may have some debugging tool running.
Also worth noting that
- It is wise to run additional versions of Firefox with their own profiles. The developer edition now on a default install has its own program location and profile. It installs as a separate additional browser.
- The Firefox Release also has degugging tools, and that includes the WebIDE & Responsive Design View.

On Firefox Release, plugin-container.exe also crashes. I am running separate profiles and syncing them with Firefox sync.
Still having trouble with the plugin-container.exe crashing, but I noticed it only crashes when I scroll down on YouTube
If Firefox is crashing then it should attempt to submit crash reports. If you navigate to about:crashes you will see the crash report crash IDs. They begin with bp- please paste two or three of those crash IDs into your next reply.
FlashPlayer problems are sometimes difficult to solve. YouTube also offers most videos as HTML5. You could try opting to use HTML5 for YouTube videos, visit:
That should have an option to set The HTML5 player is currently used when possible.

I don't use the HTML5 Player because it buffers a lot, and the pause button sometimes causes the video to play audio only after resuming, and it sometimes freezes altogether.

After looking into this some more, it seems that when plugin-container.exe has stopped working, Firefox doesn't generate a crash report.
EDIT: Got a crash report https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/d59e3d01-fd5f-4396-a65f-c9bfe2150319

I got it to no longer have a breakpoint error, but now it just randomly crashes when watching a YouTube video. This only seems to happen on Windows 8.1.
EDIT: Finally got a crashlog related to the issue! https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/4256495e-b5e9-420f-a6f0-bc8302150508

Hi spideynn, Sorry I have not been around on the forum much recently, but I have had a quick look to see if I could find out more about your problems. Unfortunately the only advice I can offer is fairly generic.
One of your Crash Signatures has been around for years and is currently #6 top crasher with >12k crashes per week. It clearly has multiple causes but no consistently useful Steps To Reproduce. It is a Memory issue, and shows up on various versions of Firefox and most platforms including Macs and Android.
- A faulty memory chip is one factor that could cause this sort of problem. If you get the problems on only one machine it could be down to a memory chip rather than Windows 8.1
- Try an overnight run with a memory testing utility such as Memtest wikipedia.org/wiki/Memtest86 http://www.memtest86.com/
- Another factor is certain addons have caused this crash signature.
- Try using Firefox in its safemode and with all plugins except Flashplayer disabled.
- That may generate a more specific and useful crash signature. Or it may prevent or reduce crashes & hangs. In which case maybe it is a particular addon that is involved.
