Firefox opens normall, but all functions (typing url, opening bookmark list, accesssing pulldown menus) don't work.

more options

Running Windows 7 and Firefox 15 on my desktop, Firefox apparently opens normally, but almost all functions are disabled (the pulldown menus - file, bookmarks- help, etc.) don't drop, I can't type a url, none of the home-page links work). I've screened for viruses and malware and none were found. I have made no recent changes in plug-ins.

I copied Firefox 15 onto a thumb drive using my laptop and then downloaded it onto my desktop, and my desktop Firefox remains frozen. I don't want to loose my bookmarks and cookies by deleting Firefox completely and reinstalling. What else can I do to restore the functionality??

Chosen solution

Well you are actually running Firefox 12, I'd first update to Firefox 15.0.1. Update Firefox to the latest release

Then, after that, reset Firefox, Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings. It won't delete your data, but will probably help the problem.

I updated to Firefox 16, and it works perfectly - I didn't need to use the Reset Firefox tool.

Amazing!

Thanks for your quick help.
