How do I stop the information window popping up every time I put the cursor on a link? It's a box about 4 sq, inches above the link.

Chosen solution

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Does the box identify the source of the information? I've seen websites that have mouseover popups, but there's no built-in feature like that as far as I know.

Thank You for your help. This is a HP15 running win 10, I shut off the hardware acceleration and the problem went away.
