The Local Directory path "C:\Users\KEITH\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\804ixe9x.default\Mail\pop.ntlworld.com" is not suitable for message storage. Pleas
I am using the latest version of Thunderbird and have made no changes to any accounts or settings for months.
I filter my incoming mail through Mailwasher and, yesterday, I was unable to get any mail into my in folder.
Mail appears in Mailwasher but, after deleting the ones I don't want, I cannot read them in Thunderbird.
Mailwasher have confirmed that it it not their problem and, although I have received no error messages in the in box window, I did get the message above when I looked at settings.
I have 3 email addresses and the message only shows for one of the accounts, unfortunately the main one.
The message only appears when I move from server settings up one line to the account name.
Can anyone please help

Could you please provide the following additional information?
- What operating system and what exact version of Thunderbird are you using?
- What kind of email accounts are those (IMAP/POP3)?
- Can you share a screenshot of your settings information for the problematic account?
There is a bug report probably related to what you describe but it's been fixed in previous specific versions of Thunderbird.
Knowing the above will help provide a precise answer.

This bug is more closely related to the issue, unfortunately it's not fixed yet.
This will require carefully reading the bug report, looking at your configuration, and fixing it manually. The probable cause of the problem in your specific context is having migrated / installed in a custom location / moved / upgraded from previous TB versions/profiles over a long period of time. That is my interpretation of the quick read I gave to both bug reports.
An easier, faster solution may be to re-create your configuration, although not ideal, specially if you have heavily customized Thunderbird. This also depends on how urgent it is for you to get back to a fully working environment and your time availability to do this.
Thank you for these 3 suggestions. Prior to receiving them my programme started to work normally with incoming messages being received as usual.
I am therefore not inclined to take any further action.
The only remaing oddity is that when I enter tools\options\account settings I can still get the following error message
"The Local Directory path "C:\Users\KEITH\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\804ixe9x.default\Mail\pop.ntlworld.com" is not suitable for message storage. Please choose another directory. "
This only appears if I look at items in a certain sequence which is account name then server settings then account name.
If I just look at account name then account settings, no error message appears.
