It will keep coming back as long as FF is open and running on a page that uses the container. Unless you "do all that jibberish above" it will continue to do so. It's not rocket science, just an adjustment of running parameters.

HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DISABLE THE ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS? I just went in there, and I found them, but when I right clicked or looked around for a way to disable them I found nothing- how do you do that

It does seem like this new 'crash protection' thing is something of an own goal, doesn't it? I've seen lots of references to people having problems with it, so why not just make it a simple opt in/opt out configuration item in the Tools menu rather than rely on people mucking around in about:config?

Or of course, just fix the problem with the container in the first place.

To disable them, all you have to do is change them all to "False". Move your mouse over "True" and right click, you'll find the option to change it to "False". I'll suggest you to restart FF once they are all done just to make sure the changes are made.

You can also change the state of a Boolean value (True/False) by double-clicking the line. It will change from True to False or vice versa.

This is really beginning to bug me, I have been all over the web the last few days. I found articles like this one below that seem to indicate that we must tough it out until the next upgrade.

I have found no real solution here at Mozzila, in fact I have found threads shut down just for people posting how annoyed they are by this plugin-container.

When I first found it I thought it was a huge worm or virus and deleted it. Then I had to use IE to reinstall. I guess if I must I will just use IE until this gets fixed.

Thank you for the tip, AliceWyman. I'll try to remember that trick if it "fixes" itself any time soon. Hopefully they'll fix this issue in the next upgrade. Firefox has been causing my system to drag since the most recent upgrade. I finally saw why when I pulled up Process Explorer to close out three windows with a total of 18 tabs between them. I never had a problem with that slowing me down in the past. Oops.

Yes I did try that silkphoenix thank you for writing back, but it clearly warns me not to make changes to it or it could damage the system. I am not that skilled in computers but when something gives me a warning to keep out, I keep out. Are you certain this will not wreck the FireFox like I did the last time?

 Just wanted to note to all of those that are afraid to make the settings, and want to wait for an upgrade, that you should be aware that Firefox 4 will be a Chrome copycat interface wise, so don't be so sure you'd like to upgrade.  Better make the configuration fixes and wait for Mozilla to come to their senses about future versions before considering an upgrade.

Sherry, If you follow the steps, it will not harm your computer. Of course, I cannot guarantee anything because everyone's computer configuration is different. But a lot of users have used this solution and so far we haven't seen any users saying the procedures caused any problems. I would suggest you go ahead and give it a try.

I uninstalled 3.6, and re-installed v3.5.8 (didn't see 3.5.10). The browser speed is zooming again. I will await something after their v4.0 that addresses the problem. Duckstahhh

Same problem here. My 3ghz pc just can't keep up with plugin-container. My God, does anyone test anything anymore?

This is so disappointing. I got rid of IE because it would suck resources. Now FF has totally cornered the market on that with plugin-container.exe. I have switched to Chrome for now. I shouldn't have to mess with configs to be able to browse and not hang my machine.

I just downgraded back to 3.5.8 and this plugin-container issue is gone. I'm happy.

Adjusting the dom.ipc settings did NOT solve the problem for me.

firefox 3.6.6 flash crashes ALL THE TIME! Fix this crap mozilla! I am so fed up with this piece of junk. Time for everyone to move along to a browser that actually works. Due away with this plugin-container crap. This is bull! This is going to take a bite into you popularity if you don't get it fixed. Google Chrome and MS IE will hit back.

You know, before this plugin, let's say FF would crash once every 2 weeks (and I'm being generous), vs now it clogs cpu process all the time and crashes at least every day, well, I'd much rather restart FF entirely once every 2 weeks than having the second option raping my work and/or leisure browsing while I can say "well at least it doesn't actually crash Firefox, only crashes a plugin bent on bringing hell on earth led by a Hitler-mustache-wearing Satan".

I just tried AliceWyman's fix and I can confirm that plugin-container.exe isn't launched anymore when viewing Flash (only tried youtube) so thanks Alice! I'll see how it works out in the long run.

I have the same problem and I can't disable the plugin-container since I can't start Firefox with the tabs I had opened when I closed it.

I am quite surprised that this problem has not been fixed yet.

leob, try to open two firefox, the second one should have no tab opened.
